Gone, But Not Forgotten

Horses we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade, because a loved horse is gone...Horses we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is memory, they'll live on in our heart. Ever wonder what the Rainbow Bridge Is?

Euthanasia is always a hard, traumatic, sad, and tough decision to make. However, sometimes it is the most compassionate action one can take. Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue is faced with this sort of decision once in a while and it is always well thought out before any kind of action is taken. We visit with the vet and farrier to get their opinions as well when faced with a euthanasia decision.

GUIDELINES FOR EUTHANASIA:

  • Does the horse have chronic pain?
  • Is there chronic or severe lameness?
  • Has there been, or is there a severe injury?
  • Does or will the horse have any quality of life?
  • Is the horse dangerous to itself or others?
  • Is the horse's pain curable?
  • What are the financial responsibilities for the horse?
  • Is the horse adoptable?

Ash

Ash is severely neglected Thoroughbred gelding. Approx 12 years old. He has had surgery at some point on his left back stifle and may not be ridable, it is too soon to tell the vet said. He needs to gain several hundred pounds as well. He has stalled 24/7 for 7 years and is enjoying time outside now.

Belle

Belle is a 42 inch mare. Her age is unknown but we are guessing 12 plus years. She is very friendly and came in with Flashy and Asia. She is a great looking sorrel with a flaxen mane and tail. She has also arrived foundered and will be in rehab for many months and then will start looking for a good home. She will be a friendly and good candidate for a child pony as she is very tame.

Gracie

Gracie is 100% blind and had bad feet. She now has a new special paddock with rocks around the perimeter of the fence, feeder, eater and shelter so when she hits rocks she know to slow down and beware. She loves her new paddock and shares it with 2 very close friends. She is feeling so comfortable now and she is running and bucking for the first time in her life! She is a very special gal.

Murphy

Murphy, a neglected gelding 26 years old
Found with no food, no water and braving the cold

He was taken away one day to live a better life
To be used for helping others suffering pain and strife

Trying to gain the weight that he would need
Kristi tried hard but had no time to succeed

You see Murphy passed away today
It was not here in this life we was supposed to stay

He is now in heaven where he is supposed to be
He suffered on earth and now has been set free

The man up above knew his pain and said
“Leave earth behind, come live with me instead”

God took him as heaven needed a horse I guess
And good old Murphy was the very best!
